Professor José Barata participated in this seminar organized by the Water and Sanitation Services from the Municipality of Sintra (SMAS) on 15 December.
In the event Professor Barata introduced the FCT Project PCIF/MPG/0086/2017 FOCOR - Using Unmanned Aerial Vehicles to Assist Prescribed Fires and Detect Rekindles in Wildfire Management and highlighted how the project can contribute to support Prescribed Fires. In addition he highlighted how the seminar can help a good cooperation between researchers and end users, and how grateful is when science is contributing to relevant societal challenges.
 | The seminar was attended by researchers from ISA, including Miguel Bugalho (scientific coordinator of the research unit of the Instituto Superior de Agronomia) and Maria Conceição Colaço, such as Joaquim Leonardo (commander of Algueirão-Mem Martins) and Luís Ramos (2nd commander of Almoçageme), who addressed the potential of burning vegetation during the winter to reduce the intensity of rural fires. |
